Duval School Choice application window opens

DCPS (ActionNewsJax)

Jacksonville, FL — The School Choice application window is now open in Duval County.

The application is for parents looking to get their children in to a magnet program or seeking a special transfer option. The window opened New Year’s Day and lasts through February 28th. Unlike prior years, both magnet and special transfer option schools have the same deadline.

Also for the first time, this year all applications must be done online. The Duval County Public School District says you need to have a Parent/Guardian OneView account, which you will use to access FOCUS, to submit the application. Full instructions are on the DCPS website.

If you have any questions about this process, DCPS staff will answer those when they are back in office following winter break, January 7th. The School Choice office has moved to Team Building B, which is on Boulevard Center Drive.

Additionally, the annual School Choice Expo will take place Saturday, January 12th. This will let you get information and insight on all public school options in Duval County, including featured programs. It will take place at the Prime Osborn Convention Center from 11AM to 3PM.
