Changes in the financial aid office and how awards are distributed have led to some delays at Florida State College at Jacksonville, but the school is now extending some help to affected students.
The Florida State College Foundation will make short-term, no-interest loans available to about 200 vocational students. The emergency short-term loans are only provided to students when circumstances regarding financial aid disbursement are beyond their control. They will not be approved for students who have previous unpaid debts.
Students were notified of the option yesterday. If the loan is approved, the student can receive up to $1,000 or the residual amount owed to them after tuition, fees and book charges are met.
The College says many of the awards should be available for students this week.
