FBI raids Jacksonville psychiatrist's office

The FBI is executing a search warrant at the office of a Southside psychiatrist.

WOKV has confirmed the FBI expects to be at the office of Nikhil Nihalani on University Boulevard through the day. They declined to comment on the nature of the search warrant because of the ongoing investigation.

The US Attorney’s Office tells WOKV the search warrant is sealed, so they will also not be releasing any further information at this time. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is not involved in the investigation, and the Florida Attorney General’s Office would neither confirm nor deny any involvement.

Florida Health Department records show Nihalani’s license was originally issued in October 2010 and is active and clear. He is certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry according to online records.

Records further show he has no prior disciplinary action by the Florida Health Department or public complaints filed with the state. He operates one office in Jacksonville.

According to FDOH records online, Nihalani is also licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York, Georgia, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. However, New York records show his medical license registration has lapsed, with the reason not given. New Jersey’s Division of Consumer Affairs says his license is inactive at Nihalani’s request. Indiana and Pennsylvania licensing shows he is expired.

The Georgia Composite Medical Board shows Nihalani’s license was issued in June 2007 and is still active, with no orders.

This is a developing story that will be updated through the day.
