FDOE releases district, school grades for 2022

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Education has released the district grades for this year on its website.

Clay County, Nassau County and St. Johns County were among the best and graded “A.”

Duval County, Baker County and Union County did not fall far behind with a “B.”

Dr. Diana Greene, the superintendent of Duval County Public Schools, gave the following remarks on her district’s grade:

“This past school year has been tremendously difficult. Probably the most challenging school year in my career. We experienced Covid-19 issues. We experienced teacher vacancies. We experienced students – chronic absenteeism – being out because of Covid and other issues. But what I am most proud of is how our employees showed up each and every day, pouring into our students. We’re not where we want to be. We’re not at that A-status. But our data clearly shows that we continue to make improvements, even in the midst of a two-and-a-half-year pandemic. And I am so proud of our teachers, our school-based administrators, support staff, district staff.”

The FDOE also released the grades for individual schools.

Clay County’s top schools included Middleburg Elementary School, Fleming Island Elementary School and Lakeside Junior High School.

St. Johns County schools like Julington Creek Elementary School and Bartram Trail High School received top grades.

Duval County also had high-ranking schools such as West Riverside Elementary School and Atlantic Coast High School.
