FHP: Driver charged with DUI following crash involving train

Jacksonville, FL — A Fernandina Beach man is facing a DUI charge and possession of a narcotic after he crashed into a train during the overnight hours, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash report says 22-year-old Ronnie Slayton III was on Henry Smith Road at Old Dixie Highway in Nassau County when drover around the crossing arms to cross over the railroad tracks. His Ford Focus then collided with a CSX train.

Troopers say he’s charged with driving under the influence with Property Damage and possession of a narcotic.
