Jacksonville, FL — Florida teachers can expect an increase in pay.

Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a measure which gives $500,000,000 directly to teachers and increases starting pay to more than $47,000.

“You do it because you have a servant’s heart, but it sure makes it easier if you have a good minimum salary,” says DeSantis.

The governor says there will be shortfalls in this year’s budget caused by COVID-19, and tough decisions will have to be made to finalize the more than $90 billion budget that goes into effect next week.
