Fondling incident reported at FSCJ Deerwood

Jacksonville student who died while taking FSCJ fire academy exam identified

Jacksonville, FL — After Florida State College at Jacksonville issues an alert about a “fondling incident” on the Deerwood campus, we’ve confirmed the people involved have been located.

FSCJ issued an alert through its app Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, they posted on social media accounts that the incident was a one-time occurrence between two students. They said a male student allegedly inappropriately touched a female student while on campus

The incident report we obtained from JSO says a 16-year-old reported that a man she was talking with at the campus grabbed her rear end. She “didn’t think anything of it”, so she didn’t report when it happened Tuesday night, according to the arrest report. The victim’s mother came forward to police.

Surveillance video helped FSCJ identify the individual involved, although the police report says it’s unclear on the video whether any touching happened. The school said they will take appropriate administrative action as deemed necessary.
