Jacksonville Police are using murder to describe the discovery of a body on the southside.

A man walking his dog near Emerson Inn on Philips Highway late last night discovered a body.  He called police.

We've just learned from Jacksonville detectives that they believe foul play is suspected.

It's unclear how long the body had been there.

On Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 10:20 p.m. police responded to Emerson Inn located at 3558 Philips Highway in reference to a dead body.

A phone call was received by police which led them to an individual who was walking his dog. The dog began flinching and sniffing as the two neared the wood line. As they neared the wood line he thought he saw a body. At that time, he went back to the hotel and called police.

Police arrived and determined that is was a body.

At this time, detectives believe foul play is suspected. This is an active ongoing investigation.

There will be no further comment by detectives in reference to this case or at the scene. All further updates will come from the PIO Office.
