Two people in their 20's are dead in what sounds like a freak accident in Palm Coast Thursday night.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Kevin Walsh had attempted to drive his pickup truck through a construction zone in the area of Forest Grove Drive but became stuck in the soft dirt.
Walsh called some friends to help him out. After a few attempts, a construction worker nearby was asked if he could use his Mack dump truck to free Walsh's truck.
As the driver of the dump truck backed up, he didn't see Walsh and Jessica Darby. Both were hit by the truck and died at the scene.
The driver, who is from Port Orange, Florida, was rushed to the hospital to be treated for chest pains after the incident.
The FHP crash report says charges are pending further investigation.
