Jacksonville, FL — Multiple animal shelters across Northeast Florida are calling for adopters and fosters, as they deal with full kennels.
The Jacksonville Humane Society and Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services are both waiving adoption fees through Sunday, saying they are at capacity.
Nassau County Animal Services is discounting $100 from the adoption fee of any dog in their shelter through Saturday, which makes all dogs- except puppies under 1-year-old- free. On Saturday, they are also hosting a kitten adoption event, with more than 200 kittens in need of homes.
In Clay County, you can adopt a kitten for $25 and get a second one free, through Saturday with Clay County Animal Services. Safe Animal Shelter is also offering $25 cats and kittens.
In the case of discounted or waived adoption fees, licensing fees may still apply.
If you are not able to adopt, area shelters are also asking for fosters who can temporarily take in an animal, and therefore free up space in the shelter itself. You can also make donations to the shelters, to support their operations.
