Jacksonville, FL — Temps fell fast after sunset on Tuesday and will likely bottom out near or even below freezing by sunrise today.
Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says a light breeze this morning is making temps feel like the mid to upper 20's in some places.
“Despite lots of sunshine for the second day in a row we’re going to struggle just to get into the mid to upper 50’s by this afternoon”, Buresh said.
Expect another night of the cold as a freeze near and west of I-95 early Thursday morning is possible.
“A little less wind though, in fact winds should go essentially calm and that means there’s a higher risk for some frost”, said Buresh.
To help keep the lights and heat on, JEA says they have bought more power during this cold snap.
There is some relief in sight though, as we’ll start to warm up again before the weekend.
“Friday rather partly sunny, temperatures soar in to the mid 70’s . Now that’s a good six, seven degrees above average. Not done yet, Saturday and Sunday we’ll close in on 80 degrees.” Mike said.
Mike said it could even be a little muggy when the warm temps.
