Jacksonville, FL — As the Jaguars prepare to take on the Panthers in Carolina on Sunday, rookie QB Gardner Minshew has been named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for his performance in September.
Minshew became the starter when QB Nick Foles was injured in the first quarter of the opening game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He has completed 84 of 121 passes for 905 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.
Minshew is the first Jaguars player to win NFL Rookie of the Month honors since LB Clint Ingram in November of 2006. Byron Leftwich also won the honor in December of 2003.
Minshew is the only rookie in NFL history to post at least 275 passing yards with a completion percentage greater than 75.0 in their NFL debut as a rookie in Week 1.
QB @GardnerMinshew5 becomes the first @Jaguars player to earn NFL Rookie of the Month honors since LB Clint Ingram in November 2006, and the first offensive rookie since QB Byron Leftwich in December 2003.
