A new healthcare option is on the way for St. Johns County families.
On Friday, December 4th, Ascension St. Vincent’s will officially break ground on its new hospital in the northeast quadrant of I-95 and County Road 210, as part of a mixed-used development called ‘Fountains North.’
The $115 million hospital will be called ‘Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County’ and is slated for completion in 2022.
“We’re excited to begin physical work on Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County, which will be an important addition to the healthcare landscape in the county. Our research has shown that there’s a great need for this level of care in the area, and we believe our community deserves to have convenient options for receiving high-quality, compassionate care close to home,” said James Machado, regional president of Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside and the new hospital in St. Johns County, in a statement.
We’re told that facility will have 56 beds initially, including 8 ICU beds.
Ascension St. Vincent’s says once the facility is open, it will offer all of the services of a typical general hospital, ranging from emergency services to cardiovascular care to imaging services.
It’s expected this new hospital will create about 600 jobs.
