A gun has been found in a Jacksonville elementary school.
A letter sent home to Chaffee Trail Elementary School parents says this afternoon, several students reported they believed a classmate had a gun. The letter says police were called, the classroom was isolated, and a gun was recovered.
The school does not believe students were ever threatened or harmed.
There’s no information yet available on how old the student is, how the student was able to get a gun, or why the student brought the gun to school. We have reached out to Duval County Public Schools in an effort to learn more.
This comes just a week after a Fletcher High School student brought a gun to his campus. He was criminally charged.
