Heavy rain projected the rest of this week

Expect another afternoon with heavy thunderstorms.

WOKV's Chief Meteorologist Accuweather's Heather Zehr says it's going to feel a lot like Monday with isolated thunderstorms firing up during the late afternoon.

Excessive lightning and heavy rainfall will be the greatest threats.  We are still tracking a weak area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico that could bring heavy rain Thursday into Friday.

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville projects around 2 to 3 inches of widespread rainfall amounts across NE Florida through early Saturday.

Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds will be the main concerns in strong storms that develop each afternoon and evening.
