If you’ve ever been to a Jaguars game and wondered what the cabana experience is like, the TaxSlayer Bowl may now be your best chance to find out.
We’ve confirmed the cabanas and pools will be open for this year’s game, unlike last year.
“Last year’s game, they were so new, and I think between us and the Jaguars, we were still figuring out how to sell them,” says Jacksonville Sports Council Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Alan Verlander.
Not only are many of the cabanas already sold to corporate interests or large groups, but Verlander says they’re keeping one of the pools for the general public.
“You get a chance to go in on the North Deck and have your own pool cabana with about 150 of your friends,” he says.
Tickets to the public cabana are $100. Unlike the normal cabana experience, Verlander says this ticket will not include food and drink. They decided to keep the ticket more basic in order to make the price more accessible.
“For those individuals that would love to just get a taste of the pool experience for the game,” Verlander says.
He thinks the option will be especially appealing for Georgia fans, because when they travel for the annual Florida/Georgia game the cabana areas are closed off, but Verlander says Penn State fans and even people just living in Jacksonville can also enjoy the experience.
Verlander says they're also right where they want to be in terms of ticket sales for the game itself. The Georgia Bulldogs and Penn State Nittany Lions square off at EverBank Field at noon on January 2nd.
