Jacksonville ACPS “critically full”, offering free dog adoptions

Jacksonville, FL — Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services is offering free dog adoptions now through Saturday, to try to create space among their “critically full” dog kennels.

ACPS says they have no open kennels right now and are actually housing adoptable dogs in kennels that are normally used for stray dogs that are brought in, because they have no space in the normal areas.

They’re urging anyone who’s willing to adopt a dog to come forward. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested, and current on flea and heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is free through Saturday at the shelter location, 2020 Forest Street.

If you can’t adopt a dog, they’re also seeking fosters who can temporarily take dogs in and try to find them homes, while freeing up kennel space.
