Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said man working on cargo ship docked at JAXPORT fell to his death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man described to be in his late 20s was found dead at JAXPORT on Tuesday at around 4:30 p.m.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was working on a cargo ship container when he took a wrong turn and fell several stories high to his death.

A preliminary investigation revealed he was not an employee at the port but was a worker on the cargo ship from Norway.

The Coast Guard, Boarder Patrol, and other partner agencies all responded to the incident. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was also on scene.

Law enforcement is working to notify the family.
