JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The widow of murder victim Jared Bridegan is hoping to ease the suffering of children caught in the middle of violent crimes.

Hours… That’s how long Kirsten Bridegan said her two-year-old daughter Bexley sat in a police station after witnessing the murder of her father Jared Bridegan in February 2022.

“It made me aware that there are not a lot of supplies at police stations for children that are in her scenario,” said Kristen in an Instagram post.

In the aftermath of her husband’s murder, Kirsten saw an opportunity for positive change and started Bexley Boxes.

She started collecting supplies like diapers, toys, books and more, putting together supply kits for local police stations so children like Bexley who find themselves in horrifying situations can find some comfort.

What started as a small initiative has grown.

A video posted by Kirsten on Instagram shows the mass scale of the donations that have flowed in, filling a large portion of a room.

“This is so incredible to me and I know it’s going to make a huge difference for kids like Bexley. And that means a lot to me and that makes me happy because that was horrible and no child should have to go through that without something small there to comfort them,” said Kristen.

Kirsten is looking to expand Bexley Boxes beyond northeast Florida.

The murder of Jared Bridegan remains unsolved to this day.
