For the third time in just one month, a JEB Stuart Middle School student has been arrested for having a gun on the campus.
We’ve obtained a letter sent home to parents which says the school got information from an anonymous caller that led them to search students. During that search, they found one student had a handgun. It’s not immediately clear if that gun was loaded.
The District says nobody was ever threatened and nobody was hurt. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded, and the student has been arrested, according to the letter.
This comes just a month after two JEB students were arrested for having loaded guns at the school. One of the students claims they were trading the guns. Both had prior records.
We’ve asked the District to speak with the Superintendent regarding any changes he wants to see at the school level to ensure your children are safe. We’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.
