Three teens have been caught in St. Johns County, after allegedly stealing a car and burglarizing several others.
Deputies say one of the suspects was caught in that stolen vehicle.
On New Year’s Eve day, 18-year-olds Robert Cruceta, Brendan Linn, and Terrence Chavious allegedly stole a car in the Fountains apartment complex, while they were out car hopping. The arrest reports say the vehicle was unlocked and had the keys inside. Deputies say the trio then used the stolen vehicle for a joy ride, while also burglarizing other vehicles.
At the end of their spree, two of the suspects went to their homes and Chavious stayed with the car, according to investigators. SJSO was later called to a report of a suspicious person, and found Chavious sleeping in that stolen car.
Chavious and Cruceta have reportedly confessed to his involvement, and SJSO says Linn provided them with video of the three in the stolen car.
Deputies have recovered property they believe was stolen in the vehicle burglaries, but they have not yet confirmed how many alleged burglaries occurred. At this time, the teens are charged with grand theft auto. Chavious has also been charged with petit theft for allegedly stealing four cans of Redd’s Wicked Beer from a gas station on New Year’s Day.
