St. Johns County deputies arrest 3rd suspect in connection to death of 20-year-old, in intended drug robbery

Jacksonville, FL — As the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office continues investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old Jacksonville man, the arrests keep coming.

Detectives have now announced the arrest of Gerald Evans, 18, for 2nd-degree felony murder and robbery with a firearm. He's the third arrest in connection to the fatal shooting of Kahlil Cooke on January 20, 2018.

The other suspects, Dalton Faulkner, 23, and Sarah Itani, 17, have both been charged with murder, after deputies believe the group set up a drug deal with two men, with the intention of stealing a pound of marijuana.

During that drug deal set-up, an arrest report reveals Cooke was shot by one of the other two men. Those men have yet to be identified.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with additional information regarding what happened to come forward. You can reach the SJSO Major Crimes Unit at (904) 824-8304 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-277-8477 (TIPS).
