Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says its arrested a 14-year-old suspect for murder in the death of a 3-year-old girl.
According to JSO, Johnathan Godwin was left to babysit the 3-year-old victim, as well as two other young children. Police say while Godwin was watching the victim for several hours, they say he became annoyed with the crying and repeatedly hit her with his fist and a belt.
Police say the girl was later found unresponsive by Godwin's mother and was taken to the hospital, where she died.
JSO says they interviewed Godwin about the girl's death and they claim he admitted to the incident. The sheriff's office says he also admitted to burning another child.
Godwin is now being charged with murder and aggravated child abuse.
