Jacksonville, FL — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K-9 Fang is being memorialized, after being fatally shot while on the job.
17-year-old Jhamel Paskel is accused of killing K-9 Fang on September 30th, while K-9 Fang was chasing him. Paskel was suspected in an armed carjacking and kidnapping around Lem Turner. K-9 Fang was released to pursue Paskel, who allegedly shot him in order to continue fleeing. He was later caught.
Today JSO K-9 FANG, who was shot and killed by a suspect in the line of duty, was honored for his service to our community. He captured some of the most violent criminals in Jacksonville. R.I.P. K-9 FANG.

Paskel is being charged as an adult for armed kidnapping, armed robbery, and killing a police dog.
K-9 Fang was a three-year-old German Shepherd, handled by K-9 Officer Matt Herrera. JSO says K-9 Fang has directly been responsible for catching some of the most violent criminals in the area.
