Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the man who appeared to be naked and tied to a tree at Big Talbot Island State Park earlier this week. The man says he wasn’t naked, and the whole display was part of an art project, according to JSO.
A picture of the incident was initially shared to a public Facebook page after a woman stumbled upon the scene and reported the man for indecent exposure. The incident report says the officer who responded was directed by a beachgoer to a couple further down the beach.
JSO says the man, who was carrying a bag with yellow rope and camera equipment, explained the display in question was a project relating to his work at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he is a professor of art. Despite the original claim, the incident report says the man insisted he was wearing underwear, and his wife supported these claims.
Officers could not locate additional complainants.
The incident report says the couple was trespassed from the park and could face arrest if they returned. We are not naming the couple involved, because they have not been criminally charged.
