JSO: Off-duty FHP trooper takes bank robbery suspect into custody

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a man is in custody, after they say he was caught trying to rob the Wells Fargo at 1300 W. Edgewood Avenue near the intersection of Lem Turner Road.

According to JSO, the suspect is accused of waiting in line at the bank and then passing a teller a note demanding money.

Police say the teller was able to notify her manager, who notified other employees. Investigators say one of those employees was then able to tell an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was inside.

JSO says the trooper came out and took the man into custody without incident.

At this time, the suspect's identify has not been released. We're told that he's currently being questioned by detectives.

JSO says the trooper had been hired by Wells Fargo to help with security.
