JSO: Video shows child abduction at Arlington Walmart didn't happen

Car Wanted In Possible Child Abduction This silver 2016 Nissan Versa is being sought by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in a possible child abduction case at a Walmart near Regency Square Mall. It has a Florida tag of GZT B73.

What was originally being reported as a possible child abduction is no longer believed to be the case.

That's the latest word from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office about an incident in the parking lot of a Walmart near Regency Square Mall on Saturday night.

"Detectives have been able to obtain surveillance video and go backward prior to this 911 call placed to police," stated a JSO press release sent late Sunday morning. "We do not feel an abduction occurred and it is no longer being worked as a possible abduction investigation. The child was with the man prior and during the trip to Walmart on Hutchinson Park Drive."

JSO says they would still like to talk with Gheorghe Otvos about what happened.

The surveilliance video hasn't been released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. Those who want to stay anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward can call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
