The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is opening the new University Transit Hub tomorrow for customers looking to hop on buses near University Boulevard and Philips Highway.
The new facility is near the southwest corner of Philips and Bowden Road. After acquiring the property in 2018, construction started last March.
“This has all of our brand new First Coast Flyer-branded bus shelters, digital signage with weather and route information, and ticketing as well,” says David Cawton, a spokesman for JTA.
He says the new hub will serve the First Coast Flyer Blue Line and JTA bus routes 25, 27 and 50.
“The First Coast Flyer Blue Line goes from downtown Jacksonville to our Avenues Walk Park-n-Ride, which is just south of the Avenues Mall,” says Cawton.
The Flyer service runs every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours.
Cawton says JTA took a blighted property in one of the most traveled sections of Jacksonville and turned it into a functional facility for JTA customers.
