Latitude 360, a popular entertainment complex near the Avenues Mall in Jacksonville, may be closing its doors despite strong sales, because its landlord has other motives.
Eviction papers have been filed by Latitude 360’s landlord, 30 West Pershing, operating out of Kansas City, Missouri. 30 West Pershing is also the same company bringing Top Golf to Jacksonville, a direct competitor to Latitude 360.
“Top Golf goes after the adult, and the group events and corporate events like we do; it’s an over $30 million investment for them,” Latitude 360 CEO Brent Brown told WOKV. “That’s the only thing that I can come up with that makes sense.”
Brown says the landlord claims they owe $5 million in unpaid rent and construction costs for their other location in Indianapolis which is under the same lease agreement with the landlord.
“Performance-wise, Jacksonville is off the charts,” Brown said. “We will do north of $10 million in sales this year. We have more than 2,800 members – the membership dues alone would pay the rent in Jacksonville.”
The Indianapolis location, on the other hand, isn’t doing as well, but Brown says they’ve continued to pick up steam and have been paying down the debt they have with 30 West Pershing.
WOKV reached out to 30 West Pershing for a response to Brown’s claims, but they did not immediately return the call.
