Local man faces life in prison for armed robbery, attempting to arrange hit on same victim

Jacksonville, FL — A local man is facing life in prison after he robbed a man at gunpoint in 2015 and then tried to arrange to have the same victim killed while behind bars, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

Daniel Dickerson was arrested for robbing a man behind a Riverside bar in October of 2015. Dickerson was with another man when he told the victim to empty his pockets. Dickerson was able to get some cash but before he left, he pointed a gun at the victim and told the man he should shoot him. The victim was able to report the robbery to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police found the two men a short distance away.

While in custody, the State Attorney’s Office said Dickerson wrote letters to a friend and providing them with the address of the man he robbed. Dickerson wanted the friend to find the victim and kill him, but those letters were intercepted by police. The State Attorney’s Office said Dickerson was also being recorded when he reached out to another inmate to help with arranging a hit on the victim.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson says Dickerson was found guilty of Armed Robbery and Solicitation to Commit Murder and/or Kidnapping. Dickerson also pleaded to the court on tampering with a victim/witness after the verdict.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled on May 20th.
