JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after a shooting Monday in Arlington. It happened at about 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Bert Road. Police were called to the location in response to a person shot.

Officers arrived and found a male of “unknown age suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” a Jacksonville police news release states.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. “We don’t know the circumstances of the incident,” police said.

The death follows a violent weekend around Jacksonville. Since Saturday, police are now investigating six separate shootings and the death of a man found inside a vehicle in Northwest Jacksonville.

The spate of violence has left eight people shot or dead in separate incidents spanning multiple neighborhoods.

Man found dead in car

At about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department notified Jacksonville police that an adult male was found dead inside a vehicle parked in front of a home in the 1700 block of Stafford Road. Police said the manner of death remains “pending.”

Man shot, crashes car in Lackawanna

Employees at a business in the 600 block of McDuff Avenue North discovered a man in a crashed vehicle at about 11:08 a.m. Sunday, police said. Officers responded to the location and found the victim, a man in his 30’s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined the shooting occurred nearby in the 100 block of Spring Street. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Man shot while standing in front yard

Police were called to Jacksonville’s Craven neighborhood at about 3:17 a.m. Sunday in response to a shooting. Police said a man in his early 20s was standing in his front yard when a suspect fired several shots, striking him in the hip. Police said the incident stemmed from a dispute at a restaurant in St. Johns County. The suspect followed the victim in a vehicle to his home in Jacksonville, police said. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and police took the suspect into custody after locating his vehicle.

Woman shoots man in Southside

Police were called to the Edge at Town Center Apartments at 3544 St. Johns Bluff Road South at about 12:50 a.m. Sunday. After arriving on the scene, investigators learned that a woman in her late 30’s shot a man in his late 40’s in the leg during an argument inside her apartment. The man was treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the woman was taken into custody, police said.

Man shot in front yard in Ribault area

At around midnight Sunday, officers were called to the 7200 block of Ken Knight Drive East in response to a person shot. Officers arrived and located a man in his 40’s suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators determined that the victim got into an argument with a person he knows and was shot in the leg. He was treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and police detained a male suspect in his mid-40s.

Two men shot in Highlands

An argument between two groups at about 10 p.m. Saturday resulted in two men being shot at Monaco Arms Apartments, 10415 Monaco Drive. One man sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and abdomen, while the second was shot in the shoulder. Both were listed in stable condition and police said they have no suspect descriptions.
