Jacksonville, FL — Just over two years after a young Jacksonville man was shot and killed outside 'The Blind Rabbit' in Riverside, his accused killer is changing his plea.
Last August, Erron Coleman, 26, pleaded not guilty in the murder of 20-year-old Daniel Rowe, but Thursday in court, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery, as part of a plea agreement.
As part of the agreement, Coleman faces 35 years to life in Florida State Prison.
The state is recommending life in prison without the possibility of parole, but it will be up to the court to make the final call. The sentencing hearing has been set for September 25.
The State Attorney’s Office tells us another part of the agreement includes Coleman testifying truthfully in any future proceeding surrounding the facts and circumstances surrounding Rowe’s murder.
Police have previously said they believed a second suspect to be involved and in court, Coleman finally identified a second man who committed the robbery with him as Devonte Hanford. However, during the course of questioning, Coleman admitted he was the gunman.
Rowe was working as a cook at 'The Blind Rabbit' and was taking out the trash when he was robbed and fatally shot.
Rowe was a father with two children and was engaged at the time of his death. His fiancee was expecting their third child.
