We first reported the story of a 55-year-old woman struck by a truck on New Berlin road off main street in May.
We checked with Jacksonville police and learned 22-year-old Brandon Fruscella has been charged with hit and run property damage.
Fruscella reportedly called his insurance company to say he thought he hit a mailbox. So JSO tells us he's won't be charged with leaving an accident resulting in death.
According to a police report, Paula Abdullah died after being struck by Fruscella's truck on May 6th. Her body was discovered on the side of the road the next day. DNA evidence obtained from Fruscella's truck matched the crime scene.
Fruscella maintains he didn't know he hit a person and thought it was a mailbox.
