It was supposed to be a fun time on the water.

It became anything but for 4 boaters in Saint Augustine this weekend.

Logan Farquhar, his girlfriend Billie Inman and 2 others were in a 12-foot boat under the Vilano Bridge when a much larger boat hit them and then fled around 11 o'clock Saturday night.

Inman says her boyfriend shoved her out of harm's way just before the collision.

"I landed in, like, a little circle cubby-like spot in between the seats," Inman added. "The water was just rushing in and I thought I was going to die."

Dakota Smith - who was also in the boat - says it was straight out of the Dukes of Hazzard.

"He ran right over our boat from the back all the way to the front and jumped it," Smith stated. "All I could think [was] this guy is trying to use our boat as a ramp."

All 4 managed to get out with their lives but Farquhar lost the lower part of one of his legs after it was cut off by a boat propeller.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by the family, Farquhar will need a prosthetic leg and around $100,000 for hospital bills and physical therapy that his insurance won't cover.

"We were just out fishing," Inman said. "We have 2 kids. They were almost orphans."

Florida Fish and Wildlife has tracked the other boat driver down and seized his boat. FWC is refusing to name him at this time because he could face criminal charges.

The 12-foot boat was also seized as part of the investigation.
