A woman wanted in Michigan was arrested in Atlantic Beach after a bounty hunter tracked down her and her two children.

39-year-old Courtney Peck was arrested early Sunday morning at an Atlantic Beach home.

She was wanted out of Michigan on two federal warrants for kidnapping her two daughters, 2 and 8 years old.

She and her ex-husband James Peck share custody of the two young girls. A bounty hunter tracked her down in Atlantic Beach after she never showed up on Aug. 21 for a custody transfer in Michigan.

James Peck spoke to our partner Action News Jax on Sunday and said he was elated to have his daughters back.

He said he flew down from Michigan immediately when he found out where his girls were.

“There was lots of hugs,” he said. “And I asked them if they were okay. They said yes, they were okay. Tired and hungry.”

James Peck said he was told the girls were going on a road trip but knew something was wrong when Courtney Peck did not show up for the custody transfer.

“I had not heard from the girls,” he said. “In fact, I didn’t know where they were going.”

Bounty hunters said they tracked Courtney Peck and the girls to an Atlantic Beach home inside a gated community.

They said they took her into custody after a brief scuffle.

“She had the kids packed up, no telling where she was going,” said Kelly Masters with AAA Bail Bonds.

They told us the home where Courtney Peck was arrested belongs to Jacksonville maritime attorney Donald Moses.

“She was driving his leased car, living in his vacation home,” said Masters. “I mean, you can only add two and two.”

Courtney Peck also has charges out of Oakland County, Michigan for stealing a financial transaction device and identity theft.

She did not show up for an Aug. 24 court hearing for charges of fleeing police with her infant in the car, reckless driving and child abuse charges stemming from the August 2015 incident.
