JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 31-year-old Jacksonville man is in critical condition at UF Health after crashing the motorcycle he was riding Wednesday night on Interstate 295.
It happened at about 8 p.m. on I 295 southbound near Commonwealth Avenue. The man was riding the motorcycle behind a pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old Jacksonville man, a Florida Highway Patrol news release states.
There was also a semi tractor-trailer driven by a 53-year-old Jacksonville man in front of the motorcyclist, the news release states. The motorcyclist was traveling at a faster rate of speed than the pickup and semi, the news release states.
The front of the motorcycle struck the right rear of the pickup and then struck the rear left tire of the semi, FHP said. The rider was thrown to the ground and taken to the hospital where he remined in life-threatening condition Thursday morning, FHP said.
