Motorcyclist dies after crash with school bus on the Westside

Jacksonville, FL — A motorcyclist is dead, following a crash with a school bus on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Randell Boyer was driving his motorcycle north on Lake Shore Blvd around 5:18am, when a school bus driver turned left on to Camille Avenue. The school bus went in to the path of the motorcyclist, leading Boyer to hit the bus and be thrown from the motorcycle.

JSO says Boyer was taken to a hospital, but died soon after arriving.

JSO says no children on the school bus were injured. The school bus works for the North Florida Education Institute, but that facility is not commenting at this point.

WOKV is working to learn more about the investigation in to the crash and whether any charges could be coming. We will update as more information is available.

JSO says this marks four motorcyclists who have died in the last three days in Duval County. They say the preliminary investigations show the motorcyclists are not at fault in the incidents.
