Jacksonville, FL — A motorcyclist has died after being struck by lightning on I-95 in Ormond Beach.
Florida Highway Patrol says a Virginia State Police trooper was also traveling along the highway on Sunday when he saw lightning strike the motorcyclist's helmet a second before the crash on Sunday.
The accident shut down all southbound lanes on I-95 in Ormond Beach for multiple hours.
Spokeswoman Captain Kim Montes says there were burn marks on the helmet, confirming that the motorcyclist was struck by lightning.
