Jacksonville, FL — The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and critically injuring her sister has been caught on Jacksonville’s Westside.
JSO says they were "overwhelmed" with tips, including from people who thought they may have seen Chad Absher and people who knew him and where he might hang out. Ultimately, they received a call around 2:30PM today, with the tipster saying they believed Absher was in the home on 118th Street- which is where he was ultimately located. The home belongs to an acquaintance of Absher, who told police Absher was there when he woke up this morning. Absher was taken in to custody without incident.
Absher is accused of fatally shooting Ashlee Rucker and critically injuring her sister at the Cedar Creek Condos on San Juan Avenue. The victims' father tells our partner Action News Jax that he was concerned that Absher was a danger. His criminal history shows prior arrests for stalking and other charges.
He will be charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
