NAS JAX requiring masks inside all buildings on base

Jacksonville FL — On Tuesday NAS JAX announced effective immediately, masks will be required while inside all buildings on base regardless of vaccination status. The base says this includes MWR facilities, unless you’re doing cardio, Galley, Chapel, CDC & CYP, Fleet & Family Support Center, Building 1, all Navy Exchange retail and food service locations, and the Commissary.

Since this announcement is being rolled out on Tuesday and not everyone while have a mask, starting Wednesday, masks will be required for entry to all buildings on base.

In the announcement, NAS JAX included some information on the overall COVID-19 picture in Duval County. Saying of the 851 COVID patients hospitalized in the county, 849 are unvaccinated with those two vaccinated with other significant health issues. Ambulance patients are seeing two hour waits and patients arriving by non-ambulance are expecting 5-hour wait times. They are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated.
