JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Forty-six of the “Grandmasters” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron return home to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, April 22, following an eight and a half-months.
The Grandmasters have been deployed since Aug. 10, 2022.
During deployment, the Grandmasters participated in a number of multi-national exercises and operations including, Deterring Russian Aggression, Juniper Oak, Neptune Strike, and Mare Aperto.
They worked alongside allies and partners, to include, Italy, France, Great Britain, Greece, Israel, Croatia, Albania, Spain, Algeria, and Turkey. These exercises strengthened partnerships and enhanced interoperability of U.S. and partner nation military forces, honing high-end joint warfighting tactics and techniques.
The Grandmasters are based out of Jacksonville, Florida. The advanced capabilities of the MH-60R enable the squadron to perform anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, search and rescue missions, and logistic support missions.
