The Navy SEAL killed in action in Iraq has been posthumously promoted.
Petty Officer First Class Charles Keating IV died after an attack on his team, which was responding to help a group of military advisors who were being attacked by ISIS. It happened in Iraq on May 3rd.
The Navy says Keating has now been advanced to Chief Petty Officer, effective the day of his death. He was eligible for the promotion.
Keating's mother lives in Northeast Florida. She told us he was expected to return from deployment in August and had plans to get married in November.
He is the third US service member to be killed in Iraq since forces returned there in 2014.
