Get ready for a noisy month if you live near Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
There will be an increase in air traffic starting Monday because the Navy is holding carrier-based training until Feb.28, according to the Navy. Aircraft and personnel are already starting to arrive at the base to prepare for the upcoming training.
The exercise involves the USS Abraham Lincoln and its carrier strike group. The Navy says the aircraft carrier is leaving Naval Station Norfolk to start the Composite Training Unit Exercise.
Training opportunities like this one are a way to test the strike group on their ability to carry out maritime operations and to see how ready they are for deployment.
On top of several U.S. vessels, the Spanish navy frigate ESPS Mendez Nunez will participate in the training in an effort to enhance the partnership between the two countries.
