The University of North Florida is putting together a task force to end the issue of hate crimes on campus.
Since 2017 there have been at least four examples of hate crimes on campus with the most recent instance coming last fall when vulgar language and a swastika were found spray painted in a bathroom, according to the Spinnaker, the campus newspaper.
Campus police haven’t said if they have any suspect information for any of the hate crimes, but the school says its trying to be proactive to stop the problem.
It’s called the UNF Campus Community Task Force, and it will be made up of students, teachers and administrators. School Provost Simon Rhodes tells us the school is working with OneJax and the student government to help form the task force.
They’ve already chosen some of the members.
