New urgent care option for veterans in Northeast Florida begins today

Getting more veterans the care they need.

Thursday is the first day the Department of Veteran Affairs says veterans will have more ways to access urgent care clinics by going to approved non-VA medical providers. The change comes from an expansion of the Veterans Choice Act called the VA's Mission Act. The original Choice Act was started after complaints about veterans not being able to get the care they needed from VA hospitals.

The VA says veterans need to be enrolled in VA health care to be eligible. The Department goes on to say not all facilities are covered and not all services are eligible.

The VA recommends talking with your VA medical facility before visiting any urgent care clinic.
