A Georgia man is in stable condition after being shot at a St. Augustine gun range.
Deputies were called to the Ancient City Shooting Range on Agriculture Center Drive just before noon. 62-year-old Aaron Acklan suffered injuries to his leg and abdomen. He was treated at the scene and then taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he is now in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Acklan was at the range with his brother-in-law while visiting family in the area. The Sheriff’s Office says the brother-in-law thought Acklan was in the restroom when he started shooting his rifle at a target. Acklan was actually behind that target, and suffered three shots.
The shooting is believed to be accidental at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
