One man charged in a series of squatting cases in Clay and Duval counties has pleaded guilty to grand theft.
Our news partner Channel 4 reports Marcellous Dunbar was sentenced to five years of probation, 100 hours of community service and a $21,000 charge as restitution to the Clay County homeowners whose home was vandalized.
Dunbar was arrested in March for taking over vacant homes to both live in himself and rent out to others. He claims he was doing this to help homeless people and veterans needing housing.
Police believe Dunbar is not the head of this scheme. Rather, Warren Lee also faces charges of grand theft, scheme to defraud and acting as a real estate agent without a license.
