There weren't as many people as Jacksonville officials had hoped for, but those who came to EverBank Field saw a thorough and dominating performance from Jurgen Klinsmann's team.
Sacha Kjlestan, Jozy Altidore and Paul Arriola all found the back of the net as the United States men's national soccer team blasted Trinidad & Tobago 4-0 in a key World Cup qualifier.
Kjlestan scored the first US goal just before halftime and the other goals came in a flurry in the second half as the Americans move on in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.
That game - the last one in the semi-final round - saw the Americans win Group C at 13 points, while the Soca Warriors - who had already clinched a spot in the final round before the game - finished second at 11 points.
Both sides will now move on to the "Hex", playing round-robin games home and away against each other as well as Group A winner Mexico and runner-up Honduras. Also among those six teams is Group B winner Costa Rica and runner-up Panama.
The top three finishers in the final round - whose games stretch from this November to October 2017 - move on to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, while the 4th-place team has to win a play-off against the 5th place finisher in the Asia confederation in order to get into the tournament.
The win stretches the USMNT's unbeaten run in Jacksonville, one that was seen by 19,410 fans on a cooler than normal Tuesday night right after the Labor Day weekend. That's well short of the 52,033 who came to EverBank the last time the American men showed up for a game, a 2-1 friendly win over Nigeria just prior to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
US forward Jozy Altidore notched both goals in that win - a game that took place on a Saturday - and did it again versus the Soca Warriors on Tuesday night, winning man of the match honors.
The US men's soccer team has never lost in five previous appearances in the River City, including a 3-0 win over Germany in 1999, a 2-1 victory over Israel in 1997 and a 5-1 pasting of Scotland in 2012.
The city paid $125,000 out of its tourism fund to US Soccer to market and promote the match, as was the case for the Nigeria game in 2014.
