2 found dead in burning car in Edgewood neighborhood, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two people were found dead in a burning car on Harrold Avenue.

According to detectives, at around 9:35 p.m. Monday, officers responded to calls about gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a car on fire.


Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and put out the fire. Two deceased individuals were found inside the remains of the car.

Action News Jax’s Alexus Cleavenger reached out to JSO and asked how the car caught fire and if victims will be identified, but was told there is no other information available at this time.

A neighbor said he when he came home from work on Monday night, he was concerned to see police so close to his home.

“It’s really quiet, it’s been quiet here for years so I didn’t really expect anything to happen like this,” neighbor Bryce Jones said.

Detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene units are working with the State Fire Marshal on this ongoing investigation.
