President Trump visits Jacksonville on Thursday for a campaign event, and Nick Seabrook with the University of North Florida says it’s a chance for him to gain traction in a key swing state as the November election gets closer.

“I think the significance is that Duval County is really important for this election because it’s a swing county in really the most important swing state,” says Seabrook, who works as an associate professor of public administration at UNF.

He says Florida is particularly important for the president, but it’s not quite as big for his competitor, former Vice President Joe Biden.

“There’s really no way that you can see a path to victory for Trump without winning the state of Florida,” Seabrook says.

He says Biden could lose Florida and still win the election by taking states like Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

“If you look at recent results here in Florida, Duval County has been a pretty good barometer for how things are going,” Seabrook says.

We’ll carry the president’s rally live on 104.5 WOKV tomorrow night.
